James' expertise and experience spans corporate, restructuring and insolvency, structured finance, employment law, derivatives, banking and finance, mergers and acquisitions, Islamic finance and regulatory work.
Previously a partner and head of Ogier's Banking and Finance practice in the Cayman Islands from 1995, James became a consultant in 2015. James is recognised as a leading individual in IFLR 1000 and is regularly highly ranked in other leading legal directories.
James is a member (and former council member) of the Cayman Islands Legal Practitioners Association and a member of the Law Society of England and Wales. He is a member of the Financial Services Legislative Review Committee and an external lecturer at the Cayman Islands Law School.
Prior to joining Ogier in 1993, James practised at Ashurst in London, Walkers in the Cayman Islands and Clifford Turner in London. James holds both a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts from the University of Oxford.
